Name: Dorothea Arnault
Door: DOOR PASS ; DOMINANT

Canon: Fire Emblem Three Houses
Canon Point: Post Crimson Flower

Age: 25
Appearance: behold! a primadonna.

History: wiki entry
CR AU (Optional): N/A

Personality:
Positive Trait: An incredibly outgoing person, Dorothea is known to surround herself with a circle of friends and admirers. Thanks to a talent for singing that got her a position as a primadonna at the Mittelfrank Opera House, she's become used to keeping company with the wealthy, nobility and other artists alike. However, because of her commoner upbringing, she does not tend to treat those in positions of power over others any differently than she would a friend, even referring to her classmates, of all noble or royal birth, by cute nicknames rather than their full proper names or titles.

Her kindness shows not only towards the personal friends that she's made, but also in how thoughtfully she considers the less fortunate, particularly children who were orphaned in the war. Seeing the toll the war has on the commonfolk of Fodlan hits her particularly hard. She spends much of her time during the canonical timeskip taking care of orphans in the now repurposed opera house. Dorothea is also one of the only units to openly mourn the deaths of her former classmates. Although she knows war can be necessary for change, she still views these people as cherished friends, and processing their loss and the losses of those caught in the middle can be difficult for her.

Negative Trait: If there is one thing Dorothea hates, it is herself. Her self loathing stems from her belief that, in order to secure her own survival in the world, she must, essentially, use her looks and talents in order to marry up. Her main goal in enrolling at the monastery— though partially driven by a desire to follow in the footsteps of her idol, her senior at the opera, Manuela— is to find a suitable marriage partner among the students. To this end, she is often accepting gifts and invites from male suitors, hoping to find a man who is all three rich, hopefully handsome, and at the very least, tolerable. Despite seeing this as a necessary evil in order to keep herself from living in poverty as she did as an orphan on the streets of Enbarr, she also sees herself as entirely pathetic because of it. This is especially evident in her supports with Caspar, where she initially rejects his idea that her seeking a suitor is akin to training as something that would belittle his efforts, though she does come around to his point of view that they are both working hard toward their futures, and wishes "everyone thought that way," including, presumably, herself.

She also agrees with gossiping guards that, due to her upbringing as an orphan and the fact that she had to pull strings with a noble in order to enroll at the monastery, that she is not qualified to have as important a role in the war as she does.

Negative Trait: Part and parcel with her hatred for herself is her hatred, in general, for nobility, but particularly the men within it. Because of their lack of care or consideration for anyone below them as unworthy of personhood, she can be rather unforgiving and even at times outright vindictive when dealing with them. With the rare exception of her classmates, she often treats them with disdain, at best finding them forgettable even as they dote upon her with expensive gifts.

She can be spiteful, too, although the punishment will always fit the offense. When she was kidnapped or targeted by men during her time in the opera, for instance, she broke men's arms—snap!— as 'thanks' for attempting to hurt her. Meanwhile, when Felix offends her by calling her annoying and refuses to treat her with any manners, she purposefully gets on his nerves until he breaks and regards her with more kindness than one would a stray cat. She won't stand for people treating her poorly, and while she has patience and allows second chances, she can be absolutely mean until they shape up.

All of this is also evident and stems back to her upbringing, and her anger toward her father, for casting out her mother and herself when she was a child, for being of common birth and for not being born with a crest. This grudge isn't one that will likely see resolution, though other grudges she's held onto for just as long are eventually rectified, like the grudge she harbored against Ferdinand since they'd briefly met as children. She's harsh, but can allow room for people who wish to make amends.

Negative Trait: Finally, she's terribly quick to judge others, a trait that is somewhat hypocritical given how she feels about others judging her. She judges Sylvain for being disingenuous when he's flirting with women, failing to realize that he's jaded by the fact that anyone who expresses interest in him sees him only for his lineage and his crest, much like the men who attempt to court her only see her for her beauty and her talent. Likewise, she misjudges what Lorenz seeks in an ideal marriage partner, assuming he is only interested in a woman who is of a noble birth, when he is also looking for someone who can handle the difficulties of marrying into nobility.

This is most evident in her supports with Ferdinand, where she believes that he had seen her bathing in a fountain as a street urchin. He had run away at the sight of her, and she had assumed that he found her disgusting for it, when in reality, he had been so captivated by her beauty, he'd thought her a water nymph. This is also an example of her carrying a grudge— and though she treats Ferdinand with basic manners, she is not at all hesitant in letting him know that she hates him.

Powers and Abilities: Dorothea is quite adept at magic, mostly of the arcane variety known as 'Reason' in the Three Houses series of Fire Emblem. Her magic pool in particular consists of long-range, typically thunder based spells, and she is also one of the only units in the game who can use the high-damage, high-cost, high-range spell Meteor that also employs the rare splash damage to adjacent targets. (Think Fireball!) She also has the ability to heal those who start their turn in a space adjacent to her with her 'songstress' trait— apparently her mere presence is just that healing!

As a unit with a high level of charm, she is also a very good candidate for the dancer class, a class that can perform for another teammate to allow them to act a second time on any given turn. She's also good with a sword!

For game purposes, she'll be classed as a mage, and will have access to the spells listed above, as well as a long range healing magic spell.
Inventory: A tome of spells and a lovely, ornate dagger.

Samples: 1, 2 out of date range but perhaps supplementary if the others aren't enough!
